Tintypes are a passion rather than a single project. Each image is uniquely hand-crafted from scratch; from mixing the chemicals all the way through varnishing the final plate. The finished surface takes on a magical gloss and depth that unfortunately, cannot be replicated on screen. The process takes a lot of time and effort to create one image, but it’s quite meditative and therapeutic, especially when I need a break from the digital space..
My subjects are a mix of portraiture, still life, and abstract.
